About a Promise to Zander
We promised Zander we would fight for justice for the suffering caused by the medical malpractice. It was after an 11-hour surgery that our hero woke up to the onset of severe pneumonia. After his major spine surgery, (top of neck to lower back) the tremendous pain, was magnified by the fever and pain from coughing due to aspiration pneumonia encountered in the recovery process.
The pneumonia turned out to be the first of many, tragic side effects from the botch job, now attributed to medical malpractice. Next, amidst the recovery Zander and his family would learn of another tragic outcome of the blundered surgery. It caused damage to his swallowing mechanism and left him unable to ever eat or drink for the rest of his life.
That horrific surgical outcome also left him vulnerable to a future of deadly pneumonia. Then, after several years of suffering, on December 28, 2024, pneumonia, the direct result of the botched surgery, took his life. He never got to open his Christmas presents, he so cherished Christmas.
Here is a brief story about Zander,'s kindness ad generosity, just before his last Christmas.

The 175-Year-Old Wrongful Death Act
After we put our son to rest for eternity, we learned that New York's outdated law makes it almost impossible to hold negligent doctors accountable for malpractice. Even worse is that unless someone was a wage earner, which excludes children, low-income families, and the elderly, it is also impossible to hold the wrongful death culprits accountable. This should scare all New Yorkers--it's a fact that puts YOU and every one of us at risk.
The Grieving Families Act
So this site is about updating New York's Wrongful Death Law with a modern version called the Grieving Families Act. The old law evolved to protect the wrongdoers, as with Zander's case, leaving them free to make more mistakes on us. The unexpected outcome, was when the law was passed in 1847. has resulted in so many deaths that it put medical malpractice at the top of America's main causes of death, with New York having a significant percentage of wrongful deaths. It is the preventable deaths that the new law will significantly decrease.
Governor Hochul
acknowledges this and has worked with New York's lawmakers to reform this terrible old bill. It has undergone two iterations to satisfy the Governor's concerns. It is now on her desk awaiting her signature but while she waits, a minimum of ONE NEW YORKER DIES EACH DAY FROM MEDICAL MALPRACTICE leaving another family in unimaginable grief.
She needs you to show your support for this bill to stop this killing.

There is Hope
The Grieving Families Act is a bill that will change all that once signed into law. Governor Hochul has vetoed several versions of it, but a revision is headed for her desk and you must urge her to her to sign it.
Please help
Together we can achieve justice for Zander and alll New Yorkers. We can make healthcare safer for everyone. Take just a moment to urge Governor Hochul to sign the Grieving Families Act.
Your voice must be heard.
Let her know we want better for all New Yorkers and please-please pass this on to everyone you know and care about the 3 people or more killed by NY's medical malpractice EVERY DAY.
